Dr. Rahul Sood

DO, R.PH Medical Director & Triple Board-Certified Vein Specialist

Dr. Rahul Sood serves as Medical Director at Vein Center Doctor, leading a clinical team that treats patients across 12 locations in New York and New Jersey. His path to medicine began at Rutgers University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and worked as a registered pharmacist before deciding to pursue patient care directly as a physician.

After completing his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Sood trained in anesthesiology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine at the same institution. That combined background in pharmacology, anesthesia, and interventional pain medicine shaped the way he evaluates venous disease today — with an emphasis on precision, patient comfort, and minimizing pharmacologic burden.

Dr. Sood has personally performed more than 10,000 minimally invasive leg procedures over the course of his career, specializing in radiofrequency ablation, sclerotherapy, VenaSeal closure, and compression therapy. He uses duplex ultrasound imaging during every evaluation to map the venous system, identify the source of reflux, and design a targeted treatment plan rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all protocol.

His practice philosophy is patient-first. Every consultation begins with listening to how symptoms affect daily life — leg heaviness, evening swelling, cosmetic concerns, sleep disruption — and explaining what the ultrasound findings mean in plain language. Dr. Sood believes informed patients make better decisions about their care, and he takes the time required to walk each person through their options before recommending any procedure.

Beyond clinical work, Dr. Sood maintains active membership in professional societies focused on venous and interventional medicine and regularly delivers grand round lectures at Westchester Medical Center. He also collaborates with residents and fellows in training, reinforcing his commitment to advancing the practice of phlebology as an accessible, evidence-based specialty.

Dr. Sood sees patients across Westchester County, the Hudson Valley, and New Jersey. Every new patient at Vein Center Doctor begins with a free vein screening that includes a duplex ultrasound evaluation — the same diagnostic standard used by hospital-based vein centers, offered at no cost and with no referral required.
